Idle CPUs, especially if there are more idle than busy ones, can have a perverse effect of bumping the busy vCPUs. You should only allocate the number of vCPUs that the VM can realistically utilised. It also seems that you have dual E5-2650 v2 Ivy Bridge CPUs and configured the VM to use 2 virtual sockets, 4 cores per virtual socket for a total 8 vCPUs. If you want to try 12.x version use the last release on that line by updating to 12.5.9. If you are using BitDefender 2017 or later, also has some virtualisation feature that interferes with running of VMs but it seems to be the only way is to uninstall.įor AVG, refer to this post Re: XP VM suddenly slow, Win 7 fineįor Avast, refer to this post Re: XP VM suddenly slow, Win 7 fineįrom the log, you are use version 12.1.1 which is quite old. In case you are running Avast or AVG antivirus on the host machine, you should turn off the hardware virtualisation feature. Thank you in advance for your time and suggestions Changing various configurations / setups Installing drives via Driver Booster and HP

I have taken the exact same SSD with the VM and plugged it into the Z600 and it works great. It was slow, but seemed to work, however, it again is slow and locks up continually. It seemed that RAM could not be set more than 32gb and CPU could not be set more than 2x4 (8). Eventually, it did appear to work and installed Windows 10 圆4 OS. I tried to create a new VM using an ISO, but each time it stopped processing at the Windows logo or ignored the ISO. I've upgraded to a HP Z820 for speed and more drive space, however, i'm exhibiting strange behaviour on VMWare Workstation.Īfter copying my Windows 10 圆4 VM to the Z820, the VM failed to boot on a number of occasions (stopping at showing the Windows 10 logo with dots which usual move around - but stopped), then when it did boot locked up on explorer and was unusable. I have a HP Z600 which i've run VMWare Workstation 12 and 14 on for some time without issues.
